Rosina Flower

September 1st, 2010, posted in Featured Artist

I have painted as long as I can remember but for a while studied sculpture at Wycombe Art College with George Mueller. I soon realised that I needed to be a painter, my first love and have continued to be fully committed and excited by any subject. A touch of light on a piece of furniture or fruit, a pot or the colour of a flower or the sky will take me off on a journey.  It’s a spontaneous feeling.  I go straight in with the paint with great energy to capture whatever set me off in the first place.

I use any medium at hand but my first love is oils.  I paint mostly around my house and studios but enjoy painting outdoors, capturing the mood of the changing landscape.  On these occasions I use acrylics or mixed media but will sometimes put oils over the top when I am back in my studio.

I find the hardest part of painting is talking about it.  It comes from such a deep place but I hope that my work speaks for me.
